november 2023 poetry oracle ~
dear, heart
The world is on fire. And I’m no stranger, just like you, to global upheaval. One of the many benefits and downsides to being a child of this time-space we’re in currently is that disaster, strife and struggle is something many of us have survived. And will continue to. I don’t say that to be negative, but to perform positivity right now just feels like poor taste.
So instead of creating a poem this month, I dug through the archive of my own memory. Which thus, prompted me to dig through my personal archive of published (and unpublished) poems, and what I found was a piece I wrote in May 2020. This peice titled “dear, heart” is an inner reflection of the state of my inner-world, written at a time where the brushes of collective pain touched my heart, for the first time. It was strange. It was scary. And it inspired me to self-soothe by speaking directly to my heart, and imagining that my heart: could speak back.
Before you listen, I would like to invite you into a similar imaginative state. One where, if you're own heart could speak, what do you think it would say? Who do you think it would call upon and where does it go when hiding isn’t an option?
I hope where and how you ponder these questions leads you to the fertile soil of your own inner universe and is a balm; supporting you both through difficulty and triumph, alike.
Thank you and Enjoy.
